⚡What Are Edge Builds?

Edge Builds are the cutting edge of Tavrn development, our most recent internal builds that reflect the absolute latest changes, additions, experiments, and patches to the platform.

They’re often fast-moving, incomplete, and unstable… and that’s the point.

🧬 Where Edge Fits In

Tavrn’s build structure is designed to balance innovation with stability. Here’s how it flows:

Edge → Canary → Alpha → Beta (Private & Public) → Stable (Public)
  • Edge: Rawest, most experimental commits; not always reviewed or QA'd

  • Canary: Still early, but more intentional and slightly more tested than Edge

  • Alpha: Internal milestone builds; all core features working

  • Beta: Wider rollout, usually feature-complete; private first, then public

  • Stable: Public mainline version; the version most users will see

🧪 What Makes Edge Builds Unique?

Edge builds:

  • Contain work-in-progress features, fixes, and experiments

  • May include broken or unstyled elements

  • Often update daily (or multiple times a day) as commits are made

  • Are intended for internal or advanced testing only

They’re an essential part of our "build fast, test fast" loop. A way for the team to immediately preview and test new ideas in a live environment before they’re refined.

🛠️ Should I Use Edge Builds?

Edge Builds are not recommended unless:

  • You are part of the Tavrn development or infrastructure team

  • You’ve been invited to help with early-stage feature testing

  • You are comfortable with bugs, visual glitches, and broken flows

They’re not meant for casual testers, server testing, or regular use. And you will likely never see an Edge build available for public use.

⚠️ Things to Know

  • Features in Edge may never make it to Canary or Alpha; some are scrapped quickly.

  • Edge builds can break unexpectedly and may cause data inconsistencies.

  • No support is provided for issues in Edge unless specifically requested by the team.

🧭 How to Know You’re on Edge

If you're on an Edge build, you'll usually see:

  • A special build tag (e.g., edge-fd22b3d)

  • A visual indicator in your Tavrn UI or developer console

  • Unreleased or unreleased-looking features not documented elsewhere

🧡 Reminder

Edge builds help us move faster and fix smarter but they’re messy by nature. If you're not sure whether you should be using Edge, you probably shouldn’t.
